Team (Project) Introduction
The Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity manages and enhances the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which resides on one Oracle M8 Supercluster database and thirteen application servers.  Our team provides the technical services required to sustain EDW applications to include Project Management, Data Warehouse Management, Advanced Analytics, Tableau Server Administration/Tableau Desktop Administration, Technical Collaboration Support, Lessons Learned, Executive Orders and Special Projects, Architectural Enhancement, and Cloud Migration. We also provide management, enhancement, integration, implementation, maintenance, modernization, and infrastructure support for EDW applications as well as enhancement and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities and predictive analytics. 

9th Way Insignia is looking for a Senior SAS Administrator to join this team.  

Professional Level Information:
An Engineer 3 typically plans and directs research or development work on complex projects, along with engaging various parties in design and development. Costs and recommendations of new components may also involve part of the job scope. Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. An Engineer 3 oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.  An Engineer 3 has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems.  An Engineer 3 has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies, and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges.

Functional Job (LCAT) Information:

A Senior System Administrator has the thorough knowledge to create plans to assure effective management, operations, and maintenance of systems and/or networks.  Manages teams of system admins and is able to prioritize work and identify high risk critical problems and dedicate appropriate resources.  Ha extensive knowledge of a wide variety of systems and networks to include high volume/high availability systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide after-hours monitoring, on-call support, and notification assistance for SAS Servers to ensure the continuous availability and performance of SAS tools.
  • Technical support and maintenance for SAS tools, including performance tuning, security, design, and user support. Monitor, optimize, and manage capacity and utilization of SAS platforms.
  • Maintain a 99.99% uptime for SAS tools to ensure uninterrupted access for users and support critical business operations.
  • Manage the SAS Linux platform supporting both development and production environments. Conduct administrative tasks remotely. Responsibilities include software performance tuning, design, monitoring, security, user support, and the installation of OEM application upgrades and new releases. This support extends to future SAS versions. Ensure timely updates and bug fixes, and maintain documentation according to industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement a SAS Platform change control process.
  • Maintain a SAS Weekly Activity Log in Microsoft Excel format, documenting activities related to SAS Platform Administration.
  • Maintain a SAS Server Dashboard in OBIEE or Tableau to monitor server storage and active SAS users. Provide a Quarterly Deployment Registry Report of release changes.
     
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in a technical field (8 years of additional experience can substitute for the degree)

  • 5 years of relevant experience

  • Extensive experience with SAS analytics tools, including SAS Advanced Analytics Pro, SAS Enterprise Business Intelligence, and related components.

  • Proven expertise in SAS platform administration, including performance tuning and security.

  • Strong knowledge of SAS/ACCESS for Oracle.

  • Previous experience in system monitoring, troubleshooting, and support, with the ability to ensure high system availability.

  • Familiarity with industry best practices in documenting and managing SAS platforms.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.

  • Certifications in SAS administration or related fields are a plus.

  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.


Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $118,737 – 122,000
